How much do our teacup pigs cost? Typically ranging from $1,500 to $3,000.
The cost of our teacup piglets varies depending on factors such as color, age, and expected size, whether they're micro pigs or Super Micro. While the term "teacup" might be a bit misleading, these charming creatures can range from 15 pounds to 40 pounds. We've even encountered rare cases where grown adults weigh only 8 to 15 pounds, though such occurrences are quite uncommon and unpredictable. It's essential to note that if piglets aren't neutered or spayed, they tend to grow larger. Therefore, we HIGHLY RECOMMEND having your piglet neutered or spayed. Additionally, breeder teacup pigs often grow larger as well. If you're breeding teacup pigs, you'll need to ensure they receive extra food since they're eating for their piglets too. Different colors also typically come at varying costs, with pink being one of the most desired colors and thus selling for more than more common colors like black. Juliana and Chocolate are also highly desired colors.
When it comes to teacup piglets, size is the most important consideration. Many competitors sell piglets for $800 to $1,500, showcasing them when they're just a few days old. Not only is this unhealthy and unethical, but it also leads to misrepresented piglets. Genuine teacup piglets won't be mature enough to safely be weaned and rehomed until they're at least 12 weeks old. Be cautious of breeders who try to predict a piglet's adult size when they're just a few days old; this is merely a sales tactic. True teacup piglets must be weaned at an older age. Avoid purchasing a teacup piglet online if there isn't a current picture of it from the breeder at over 12 weeks old. Some breeders sell pot-bellied pigs as teacup pigs, leading to larger-than-expected pets. While these pigs can make loving pets, be aware of the size difference.
Are teacup pigs starved to stay small? Unfortunately, some pigs are starved by owners who have been misled into thinking they're getting a teacup pig from an unethical breeder when they're actually getting a normal pot-bellied pig. This can cause major health complications for these poor pigs. Therefore, it's crucial to only buy from reputable breeders. Real teacup pigs will stay small if they're kept on a proper diet; however, if you put a pot-bellied pig on the same diet, it will become malnourished and may die.
What is the difference between a Super Micro pig, Micro pig, Mini pig, teacup pig, and Juliana pig? Super micro pigs are the smallest, likely staying within the lighter side of the 15-40 lbs average weight as adults. However, many of these distinctions are based on breeding practices and the size of parents and grandparents. Juliana pigs are an actual breed, typically spotted. At times, we crossbreed Juliana piglets with Super Micro pigs to produce unique colors.
Are teacup pigs legal in Iowa? Teacup pigs are now legal in most cities, but it's still wise to check local ordinances. If your city specifically mentions no swine, consider a different pet or moving to a different city.
How much do teacup pigs weigh as adults? Our teacup pigs weigh, on average, 15-45 lbs as long as they're kept on the proper diet. Most teacup pigs continue growing until they're 4-5 years old. We pride ourselves on having the smallest teacup pigs in the United States, with our piglets getting smaller with each generation.
Can teacup pigs stay in apartments? It depends on the apartment and whether you have time to take the pig for walks and ensure the floors aren't too slippery. Pigs need their own space for relaxation, like a bed or pen. Many city dwellers have successfully adopted from us, but ensure you provide them with exercise and a suitable environment.
Can teacup pigs be housebroken? Teacup pigs are very intelligent and can learn to use a litter box at a young age. When training, keep them in a smaller space until they're using the litter box consistently. Be patient and use positive reinforcement.
What's the easiest way to distinguish between a regular pig, a pot-bellied pig, and a teacup pig? Look at the ears; teacup pigs have straighter ears compared to floppy ears of regular pigs. Additionally, be wary of breeders who showcase very young piglets, as this is often unethical. True teacup pigs must be weaned at an older age. Request updated pictures from the breeder before making a purchase.
